PowerBrace offers a permanent solution to foundation settlement problems in Minnesota and northern Iowa.Interior bracing is a tried and true method of stabilizing deteriorated basement block walls. In northern climates like Minnesota and Northern Iowa, walls that have horizontal cracks are usually buckling due to the hydraulic forces of freezing and thawing of the surrounding earth. Strengthening the wall with steel columns is an economical method of stabilizing the wall. The basement wall can be strengthened from the inside, avoiding excavation.

Basement Wall Implosion or Buckling

The combination of our Minnesota/Northern Iowa climate and the soils found in many residential areas causes tremendous stresses on basement walls. High moisture content in the earth causes expansion and contraction of the soil surrounding your basement walls. Several cycles of hard winters and wet spring weather can eventually cause implosion of the basement wall. Interior braces transfer this pressure to the concrete floor and the floor joists of the dwelling above.

A common problem that occurs with a block wall foundation is a phenomenon known as wall shear. That is, a separation occurs along the top of the first coarse of block and the entire wall creeps inward. By properly anchoring a vertical beam, further shearing is prevented. The PowerBrace System uses a specially designed floor bracket to bolt the vertical beam to the existing floor, eliminating the mess involved in the removal and replacement of concrete.

We use the PowerBrace System because of its unique features that allow adjustment of the beam loading after installation. Your bulging basement walls can be permanently stabilized.

We have the experience and ability to help you chose the right solution to your basement problems. This may seem like a complicated decision, but our experienced System Design Specialists will explain the several options when it comes to restoring and reinforcing your basement walls, and suggest the optimal method to solve your problem.
